GIS Settings

Geographic Information System (GIS) application is an information database used to secure, store, update, analyze, manage and display all kinds of spatial and geographical information.

The GIS Settings page allows you to configure the Map Controls, such as Layers and Base Maps that are required to perform the following activities:

In the GIS Settings page, you can perform the following tasks:

Steps
  1. In the module menu, click Administration.
    The Administration page is displayed.
  2. In the navigation pane, expand System Configurations.
  3. Expand GIS, and then click GIS Settings.
    The GIS Settings page is displayed.

Enabling GIS in Mobile

By enabling the GIS feature in mobile, you can view the following features in the Masterworks mobile application.

Steps
  1. Select the Enable GIS in Mobile check box to enable GIS feature in the Masterworks mobile application.

Adding Base Maps

Steps
  1. In the navigation pane, click GIS Configuration.
  2. In the BASE MAPS section, click Add.
    The New Base Maps dialog box is displayed.
  3. In the Name box, enter a unique alphanumeric name for the new Base Map.
  4. Enter the URL of the new base map.
  5. To set the Base Map as the default map, select the Is Default check box.

Note: Only one Base Map can be selected as default. The default Base Map is displayed in the map view across the application.

  1. Click Save to save the new Base Map details.
    All the saved Base Maps are available for selection in the map view.

Adding Layers

Steps
  1. In the LAYERS section, enter Transparency of Drawing tools in %.
    This value defines the transparency of the geometrical shapes created by user to clearly distinguish the overlapping boundaries.
  2. To add a new layer, perform the following steps:
  1. Click Add.
    The New Layer dialog box is displayed.
  2. Enter the Name of the layer.
  3. Enter the URL of the layer.
  4. Select the Enable Editing check box, to set the Layer as editable.
    The Geometry field is enabled.
  5. Optionally, enter the User ID, Password, and Confirm Password to enable user authentication to access the layer in ESRI.
    These are also known as Private Layers.
  6. In the Geometry drop-down list, select the required geometry, if the Layer is enabled for editing.
  7. Enter the Transparency in % value.
    By default, transparency of the Layer when placed over the Base Map is set to 50%.
  8. Click Save to save the new layer details.
    The new layer ID is auto-populated.
Validating the Layers for Offline Download
Steps

To make sure that the Layers are available for offline download in the Masterworks mobile application, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Validate.
    The Valid for offline Download column displays either of the options described below:

Adding Layer Aliases

Layer aliases of non-editable Layers are configured to easily identify the outfield attribute when displayed in tooltips in the map view.

Steps
  1. In the LAYER ALIASES section, from the Layer Name drop-down list, select the layer name to view the Layer information.
    The Layer Aliases information of the selected layer is displayed in the table.
  2. To create an outfield alias for a non-editable layer, perform the following steps:
  1. Click Add.
    The New Alias dialog box is displayed.
  2. Provide the following information:
    • Layer Name – From the drop-down list, select the layer name
    • Outfield Name – Enter the name of the outfield attribute as defined in ArcGIS database
    • Outfield Alias – Enter the outfield alias that appears in tooltips in the map view
  1. Click Save to save the new Layer Aliases details.

Configuring Default Map Location

  1. In the DEFAULT MAP LOCATION section, for the Default Map Type, select either of the following option:

Configuring Service Authentication Details

Steps
  1. In the SERVICE AUTHENTICATION SETTINGS section, provide the following details required for Service Authentication:

Configuring Geometry Service Settings

In the GEOMETRY SERVICE SETTINGS section, you can enter the geometry service URL defined in ESRI to support the spatial reference other than the default spatial reference/WKID.

Steps
  1. In the Geometry Service URL box, enter the geometry service URL.

Defining Offline Extent

Offline Extent is defined to set an image boundary of the offline Base Map when displayed in the Masterworks mobile application.

Steps
  1. In the OFFLINE EXTENT section, to set the default location extent in the offline maps, perform the following steps:

Note: It is recommended to set the Offline Extent coordinates same as the Default Map Location.

Adding Offline Base Maps

Steps
  1. In the OFFLINE BASE MAPS section, click Add.
    The New Offline Base Maps dialog box is displayed.
  2. Provide the following information:
  1. Click Save. The new offline base maps details are saved.
Validating Offline Base Maps

To ensure the base maps are used for offline download in Masterworks mobile application, perform the following steps:

  1. In the OFFLINE BASE MAPS section, click Validate.
    The Valid for offline Download column displays either of the options described below:

Configuring the ESRI Save Settings

Steps
  1. In the ESRI SAVE SETTINGS section, enter the Maximum Number of Retries that the system automatically tries to write the location data on the layer in ESRI after the first failed attempt.
  2. In the Failure Notification recipient email(s) box, enter the email address of people who are notified on failure of saving data to ESRI after retrying.
